6 baseball games in 2 days!

Colton's 9U baseball team played in the State Tournament this weekend.  We played two games Friday night.  Winning the first and tying the 2nd.  We got to the fields at 8 am Saturday morning and played 4!!! back to back games.  That hasn't happened before and was really poor planning on the Tournament Directors Part.  In the 3rd game we were down by 9 runs and came back and won.  By the 4th game we were simply out of gas.  So we came in 4th in the State and played our best ball of the Season.  In 6 games Colton either pitched or played catcher.  I don't even know how he's standing this morning.  There is a limit on the number of innings he could pitch so he wasn't over used in that way but catcher is actually much harder to play in the heat.

 The best part of this picture is actually Cayden out of focus.  haha.  Lily is a SERIOUS ball player.  She pitches for us and also plays 3rd.  She was the winning run in the 3rd game.  Full count, and she kept fouling off and finally got the walk and was the winning run.  Our team has a special cheer that is only hers that they chant when she comes up to bat.  They totally respect her and treat her just like one of the guys.  She was also the only girl in the whole tournament.  I LOVED when she struck out players.  Imagine being struck out by a girl at this age. haha  In this picture, her and Colton are discussing who had better at bats.  These two are great friends.  Cayden of course still doesn't believe you can have a friend that is a girl.  Colton doesn't either but Lily doesn't count cause she is a team mate.

I had to include this picture of Lily just after she scored the winning run in the 3rd game.  I then had to keep her own team from dog piling her so she could pitch in the last game! 

Unsung hero. Cayden is there for the 9U team in case of injury or if needed for any reason. He can play up with the big boys and has the best attitude even without playing. He was starting cheers and helps me keep pitch count and other stats and warms everyone up in the outfield. He was tired in this picture in the 4th game and a bit stressed when it looked like we weren't going to be able to pull it out. He never misses a play and always knows what we are doing and need to be doing. Love my sweet boy!
